GCA’s Goals are to:
- Promote long term objectives for institutional
collaboration and growth between Georgia and China
- Secure a Chinese consulate office in Atlanta
- Collaborate with existing organizations to
strengthen ties between the people of China and Georgia
- Provide relevant communications and information
to our members and the public
GCA’s Plan of Action includes promoting and fostering
long term relationships between China and Georgia in the areas of
commerce, education and culture.
By serving as a central point of contact and coordination
for Chinese delegations and leaders visiting Georgia, GCA will provide
opportunities for leader-to-leader, business-to-business exchanges
and business development. GCA will establish and maintain communication
with Chinese Business and Government leaders through exchanges with
the consulate office in Houston and leading Chinese organizations
and media throughout the mainland.
GCA members will benefit as GCA promotes travel
between Georgia and China. Strong relationships between China and
Georgia businesses will emerge and expand, and long-term associations
between Georgia delegations and Chinese leaders will form.
Why do we need GCA and why now?
Georgia is an inextricable part of the global
economy, and the growth of our economy relies on global engagement
via jobs, foreign direct investment and international corporate
expansion. China is an indisputable global giant, and while Georgia’s
international trade efforts are successful, we have competitors
like South Carolina, Texas and Florida. We are losing key opportunities
to position Georgia and Georgia companies with numerous senior delegations
from China who are visiting Atlanta and the Southeast U.S.
Five Expected Outcomes:
- Atlanta to be site of Chinese consular office
if and when it is established in the southeast
- Georgia to be considered a China-friendly environment and be
included in expansion sites as leading Chinese (Fortune 1000)
companies invest
- Increase of agricultural exports to China
- Increase export of “knowledge and service economy workers in
support of joint ventures and Chinese business
- Direct investment into companies by foreign companies and initiatives,
resulting in increased global efficiency
